You are at the intersection of Pushkin and Kirov Streets near the Gorky Regional Library. This important cultural site appears in the center of Brest owing to the efforts of the authorities and with the support of the Protestant churches.
On May 12, 2017 Brest Regional Executive Committee declared an open competition for the preliminary design of a memorial dedicated to the Brest Bible. The initiative was timed to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing.
Ten drafts — different in form and content — were submitted to the competition. The regional art-expert council determined the winner. Author of the chosen project was Anton Nichiporuk, a native of Baranovichi. He proposed the idea of a stylized open book with a print of the illustrations and the date of the Brest Bible publication.
Currently, the memorial sign for masterpiece of typographical art of the Reformation is equipped with a Wi-Fi point with the possibility of access to information in six languages: Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, English, Polish, Chinese. Here everyone can learn not only about the history of the famous edition of the Bible, but also become familiar with its content.
We invite you to feel the historical charm of the city and experience the hospitality of modern Brest, the city which may rightfully consider the Brest Bible one of its main symbols.
